4/10Critic Score

Akshay Kumar's *Holiday* attempts to weave a coming-of-age romance against the picturesque backdrop of Goa, but the execution falters significantly in both narrative coherence and emotional resonance. The premise—a wealthy girl learning dance from a resort instructor while navigating class differences and family disapproval—carries familiar Bollywood DNA, yet the film struggles to synthesize its disparate plot threads into a cohesive whole. The central misunderstanding that drives the third act feels contrived rather than organically earned, and the supporting subplot involving Alysha's pregnancy complications never integrates meaningfully with the main love story. While the chemistry between leads has its moments during the dance sequences, these interludes cannot compensate for the sluggish pacing and predictable emotional beats that dominate the runtime.

Director A.R. Murugadoss, whose filmography averages 4.3/10, demonstrates the same structural weaknesses evident in his prior work—a tendency toward overwrought melodrama and tonal inconsistency that undermines potentially affecting scenes. The performances feel competent but underutilized; there's no depth mined from Muskaan's internal conflict between family loyalty and personal desire. The dance numbers, ostensibly the film's strongest asset, are shot adequately but lack the kinetic energy or visual distinction needed to elevate the narrative. Even the Goa setting, typically a visual asset in Hindi cinema, feels like m

Storyline

So there's this quiet, well-off girl named Muskaan who goes to Goa for a vacation with her parents. While she's there, she crosses paths with Dino, who's this talented dancer working at their resort. Things get interesting when Dino's dance partner Alysha goes through some serious heartbreak – some guy got her pregnant and then bailed on her. Muskaan, being a good person, decides to step in and learn the choreography so she can perform alongside Dino instead.

During all those training sessions together, Muskaan and Dino start developing real feelings for each other. It's one of those classic situations where proximity and shared passion lead to romance. But of course, complications start popping up that make their budding relationship complicated and messy.

The biggest problem? Muskaan's dad shows up and makes a bunch of wrong assumptions about who's responsible for Alysha's situation. He gets it into his head that Dino is the one who abandoned Alysha, and obviously that puts a huge wedge between him and Muskaan. This misunderstanding creates some serious tension that threatens to tear everything apart.
