7/10Critic Score

Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor Khan anchor this audacious comedy-drama with genuine warmth, transforming what could easily have been a gimmicky premise into something surprisingly touching. The film's central conceit—a fertility clinic mix-up that results in two couples carrying each other's biological children—is deliberately outlandish, but the screenplay smartly grounds the chaos in real relationships. By forcing the two couples into close quarters as neighbors, the narrative sidesteps easy laughs and instead mines comedy from the tension between awkwardness and unexpected friendship. The supporting cast, particularly the other couple, brings considerable nuance to what could have been caricatures, creating genuine moments of vulnerability beneath the situational humor.

Director Raj Mehta demonstrates a deft touch in balancing the film's tonal shifts, never allowing the preposterous plot to completely overshadow the emotional stakes at play. There's real chemistry among the ensemble, which becomes essential when asking audiences to invest in four leads equally. However, the second half does strain under the weight of resolving so many intersecting storylines, and some character arcs feel rushed rather than earned. The humor also becomes more broad and predictable as the runtime extends, losing some of the sharper edge that made the setup compelling.

What emerges is a film that swings for the fences with its premise and largely succeeds in making viewers care about these

Storyline

So basically there's this couple in Mumbai—Varun works in car sales and his wife Deepti is this hotshot journalist—and they've been married for like seven years but can't have kids. They're actually really solid together, which makes the whole thing even messier. They decide to try IVF with this fertility doctor, thinking it'll finally happen for them. Seems straightforward enough, right?

But then everything goes absolutely haywire because the doctor mixes up the sperm samples with another couple who happens to have the same last name. I'm talking literally swapped embryos. So now Varun's swimmers are with the other wife, and the other guy's are with Deepti. Both women end up pregnant but with the wrong guy's biological kid. You can imagine the chaos—both couples are furious, the doctors are panicking, and suddenly everyone's living in each other's pockets trying to figure out what the hell to do.

What's kind of cool is how the movie takes this absolutely bonkers situation and actually makes something human out of it. The other couple literally moves into the flat upstairs, so these four people who should probably never see each other again are now basically neighbors. It gets messy and awkward and funny in ways you wouldn't expect from such a premise. The chemistry between the cast keeps you hooked even when things feel totally absurd.
