Review
Fukrey Returns trades the scrappy charm of its predecessor for a louder, more chaotic brand of comedy that feels distinctly bloated. Director Mridul continues the franchise's affection for its moronic quartet, and their chemistry remains the film's greatest asset—Varun Sharma's Choocha in particular carries scenes with infectious stupidity that occasionally borders on inspired. However, the film's narrative sprawl undermines any genuine wit; the lottery subplot feels like a vestigial plot device rather than a cohesive story engine, and by the time we reach the contrived supernatural twist involving Choocha's "mysterious ability," the script has already lost its moorings. Pulkit Samrat and Richa Chadha fare better when allowed character moments, but they're largely sidelined in favor of episodic chaos. Where Fukrey Returns fundamentally falters is in mistaking volume for substance—the gags are often unearned, relying on crude slapstick and yelling rather than the timing that made the first film surprisingly effective.
The film's political satire regarding the lottery and electoral manipulation has potential but remains embarrassingly underdeveloped, squandered between poorly executed action sequences and recycled banter. Compared to genuinely inventive comedy-thrillers like Khosla Ka Ghosla or even the tighter anarchism of films like Dil Chahta Hai, Fukrey Returns feels like a film made by a director unsure whether he's directing a heist caper, a political satire, or a supern
Storyline
So basically, our four lovable goofballs are finally settling into college life in Delhi and things seem pretty chill. Hunny and Zafar are even planning to get married to their girlfriends Priya and Neetu. But then BAM—Bholi Punjaban, this fierce woman they'd messed with before, gets out of prison and she's not happy about it. She tracks them down and gives them an ultimatum: work for her in a lottery business or face the consequences. Since they don't have much choice, the guys agree to run this lottery shop for her, hoping to make some quick cash.
The lottery business actually starts picking up steam as Choocha goes around distributing tickets and people get excited about winning big money. Meanwhile, there's all this political drama happening in the city with ministers arguing about elections and cops cracking down on illegal operations. Things get super messy when the authorities discover their lottery shop and decide to rig the winning numbers, leaving all the customers absolutely furious and ready to mob the guys.
The quartet barely manages to escape the angry crowd by jumping into a river, and they wake up in some random construction area soaking wet and confused. They manage to get Panditji to join them there, and that's when something strange starts happening with Choocha—he develops some kind of mysterious new ability that nobody quite understands yet. This bizarre development sets the stage for the crazy adventure that's about to unfold.
