Sneha Kapoor's Review:

"From Sydney with Love" attempts to resurrect the fish-out-of-water romance formula that once worked charmingly in films like "Chandni Bar" and "Bride Prejudice," but it squanders its premise with a script that feels simultaneously overwrought and underdeveloped. The narrative trajectory—shy Bengali girl meets charming boy abroad—is executed without the nuance or cultural specificity that might have elevated it beyond a paint-by-numbers NRI romance. Director's handling of Meghaa's internal conflict between familial obligation and personal freedom remains superficial, never digging into the real psychological weight such a journey demands. The supporting cast, particularly the friend group, feels more like convenient plot devices than fully realized characters, and their interactions lack the organic chemistry that could have grounded the film's emotional stakes.

What fails most critically here is the romance itself—the supposed anchor of the narrative. Meghaa and Rohit's connection, described as "instant" and "effortless," translates on screen as perfunctory; we're told they click without being shown why beyond standard meet-cute moments. Storyline

Meghaa gets this amazing opportunity to study economics at a top Australian university, and she's definitely nervous but excited to leave her small hometown in West Bengal and her overprotective family behind. She arrives in Sydney with hardly any idea of what to expect, coming from a pretty traditional middle-class background, so everything about the city's lifestyle and culture feels totally new and overwhelming at first. Her cousin Kalpana, who everyone calls Kol, becomes her guide and helps her settle in, and soon Meghaa finds herself surrounded by a fun group of friends including sweet Lubaina, the joker Raj, and self-absorbed Suhail.

Now, Meghaa wasn't really looking for any romantic drama while dealing with the whole adjusting-to-a-new-country thing, but life had other plans for her. She crosses paths with Rohit, this charming and outgoing guy who's also studying at the university, and they just seem to click instantly without any effort.

Their connection grows naturally as they spend more time together, and you can tell that something special is developing between them. But of course, when you've got cultural differences, distance from home, and all the complications that come with a new relationship in a foreign land, things are never as simple as they seem on the surface.
