Elaan

There's a raw emotional core buried somewhere in *Elaan*, a film about grief transformed into obsession and the dangerous allure of vengeance. Karan's guilt over his stepfather's death and Arjun's haunted past—a pregnant wife lost to gang violence—should have been the beating heart that makes us feel the weight of their mission. Ajay Devgn brings a certain weariness to Arjun, suggesting a man pulled back into darkness against his better judgment, and there are moments where the film captures that internal struggle. However, director Raj Kanwal struggles to sustain the emotional momentum; the narrative meanders between character backstories and heist mechanics without fully earning our investment in either. The story feels stretched thin across its runtime, with the revenge plot becoming increasingly mechanical rather than deeply felt. What could have been a meditation on how trauma perpetuates itself instead becomes a fairly conventional thriller about taking down a crime boss.

The performances have potential but feel undermined by inconsistent pacing and writing that doesn't always trust its own themes. The relationship between Karan and Anjali—where she blames him for her father's death—could have been a profound exploration of misplaced anger and reconciliation, yet it's treated as more plot device than emotional reality. Abhimanyu Singh's character, the betrayed insider, represents an interesting moral grey area, but again, the film doesn't dig deep enough into what it m

Storyline

So there's this really dangerous criminal named Baba Sikander who's basically running an empire of crime from somewhere abroad, using his brothers as his right hand. He decides to shake down this wealthy guy Kantilal for a huge pile of cash, but Kantilal's stepson Karan convinces him not to pay. Unfortunately, that choice costs Kantilal his life, and Anjali, his daughter, is absolutely furious with Karan, thinking he's responsible for the tragedy.

Karan's gutted but he channels that grief into wanting revenge—he becomes obsessed with the idea of bringing Baba Sikander back to India to face justice, something even the cops couldn't manage. He reaches out to this ex-cop named Arjun who's had his own run-ins with the criminal underworld. Arjun had a traumatic past where his pregnant wife was caught in the crossfire during a gang situation, and while he's been trying to keep his head down ever since to protect his daughter, he eventually agrees to team up with Karan.

Arjun suggests bringing another person into their plan—Abhimanyu Singh, who used to work for Baba Sikander but got thrown under the bus and ended up in jail because of it. Since Abhimanyu knows all of Baba's secrets and operations from the inside, he could be the perfect inside man to help them take down this criminal mastermind.
