Amitabh Bachchan carries this serviceable thriller with the gravitas of a seasoned performer, though the material rarely stretches him beyond his established comfort zone. The father-figure-to-orphaned-child arc is executed competently—there's genuine warmth in the early Bangkok sequences where Surya's gruff exterior melts through swimming lessons and quiet moments. Director Ek Ajnabee structures the narrative with surprising efficiency, moving from character establishment to kidnapping catalyst to full-blown action revenge without excessive bloat. However, the film's emotional core—which should be its greatest asset—feels undercooked; the bond between Surya and Anamika needed deeper exploration to justify the climactic self-sacrifice that the script demands of us. Ajay Devgn's presence as a supporting antagonist adds star power rather than narrative depth, and the Bangkok setting, while visually distinct for Hindi cinema of that era, isn't leveraged for anything beyond exotic backdrop value.

Storyline

So there's this grumpy ex-soldier named Surya who's basically a mess—drinks too much and has zero patience for anyone. His old army buddy asks him to watch over this little girl named Anamika who lives in Bangkok with her wealthy family. At first, Surya couldn't care less about the kid, but she gradually gets under his skin and they actually bond while he helps her train for a swimming competition. Things take a dark turn when Anamika suddenly gets kidnapped, and Surya gets badly hurt trying to stop it from happening.

With Anamika's dad unable to come up with the ransom money, Surya goes into full action mode using his military expertise to track her down. As he digs deeper, he uncovers a whole web of criminals involved in the kidnapping, including a lawyer named Chang and his mysterious brother who's pulling the strings behind everything. When Surya manages to capture Chang and arranges a hostage swap, things get real complicated real fast.

The biggest plot twist comes when Surya discovers that his supposedly trustworthy old friend Shekhar is actually the one orchestrating everything from the beginning. Turns out Shekhar only hired him to eliminate his enemies and had no real loyalty to him whatsoever. Despite knowing he's basically walking into danger, Surya decides to go back and save Anamika anyway because that little girl has become more important to him than his own safety or life.
