"Dhuan" is a film that understands the mechanics of a heist thriller but stumbles considerably in the execution. The premise itself—a CBI officer posing as a dead man to infiltrate a wealthy household and expose a murderer—has genuine promise, and director's initial setup is competent enough to hold attention. The performances vary in caliber; there's a certain craftiness in how the lead navigates the dual identity, though the writing doesn't always give him material worthy of that effort. Where the film loses its footing is in the second half, where the twist about our protagonist being an undercover cop feels more like a narrative escape hatch than an earned revelation. The supporting cast does serviceable work, but the chemistry between leads remains frustratingly surface-level.

What's most frustrating about "Dhuan" is how it treats its female characters as passive puzzle pieces rather than dynamic participants in the drama. Gayatri, despite being positioned as intelligent enough to pose threats, is consistently outmaneuvered without much agency, and her eventual confession feels unearned rather than cathartic. The director demonstrates technical competence in staging scenes and maintaining narrative momentum, but lacks the finesse to elevate genre conventions into something memorable. The film works as an adequate time-pass thriller with enough twists to keep casual viewers engaged, yet it never quite transcends its formulaic bones. It's neither bad enough to condemn nor

Storyline

Sunil, a slick gangster with nerves of steel, gets tapped by his boss to infiltrate the sprawling Devigarh estate by posing as Ashok Saxena, the supposedly dead brother-in-law of the fabulously wealthy widow Rani Gayatri. He's after her unregistered jewels, secret documents, and solid gold statues—basically a treasure trove that'll make anyone's head spin. With forged evidence and a crew of planted staff backing him up, Sunil pulls off the con so smoothly that Gayatri can't catch him slipping, no matter how hard she tries to expose him.

When Gayatri desperately brings in Sheela, Ashok's ex-fiancée, hoping she'll blow his cover, everything backfires spectacularly—Sheela vouches for him too! What Gayatri doesn't know is that Sheela's father has been kidnapped by the bad guys, leaving her trapped and unable to warn anyone. Sunil keeps turning the tables on Gayatri at every turn, outmaneuvering her attempts to prove he's a fake, until he makes a bold move: he has her declared mentally unstable and sent to an asylum to prevent her from causing more trouble.

Facing shock therapy, Gayatri makes a desperate confession—she actually killed the real Ashok three years ago. But then the twist hits like a thunderbolt: Sunil isn't a gangster at all, he's a CBI officer, and his "boss" Dinesh Dikshit runs the secret service! The whole operation was a sting to nab Gayatri and recover those stolen documents. With the case wrapped up and justice served, Sunil and Sheela ride off into the sunset together, their chemistry finally free to bloom.
