Review
Damadamm! attempts to breathe life into the tired romantic triangle formula, but stumbles under the weight of its own predictability and tonal inconsistency. The film's central premise—a man caught between a possessive girlfriend and an office romance—could have worked as sharp social commentary on commitment and desire, much like how Pyaar Ka Punchnama tackled relationship dynamics with wit and self-awareness. Instead, what we get is a muddled narrative that treats Shikha's paranoia as comedic fodder rather than exploring the genuine toxicity of the relationship dynamic. The direction lacks the snappy energy needed to sell such familiar material, and the chemistry between leads feels manufactured rather than earned. What could have been a refreshing deconstruction of modern relationships becomes just another formulaic love story, neither funny enough to work as comedy nor emotionally resonant enough to work as drama.
The performances fail to elevate the material—there's a sense of obligation rather than investment from the cast, as though everyone involved recognized they were working with thin characterizations. Sameer never transcends the archetype of the indecisive protagonist, and neither Shikha nor Sanjana are written with enough complexity to make the emotional stakes feel real. The arranged marriage twist in the final act suggests the writers were grasping for a narrative turning point, but by then, the audience has already checked out. The film's catastrophic box of
Storyline
So basically, there's this guy Sameer who writes movie scripts, and he's been dating this super clingy girlfriend Shikha who's always paranoid about what he's doing. He's stuck with her for some reason and doesn't know how to deal with her constant suspicions. When Shikha heads off to a family wedding for a few weeks, Sameer finally gets to breathe and just live his life—partying, having fun, the whole thing.
Then this amazing woman named Sanjana shows up at his office, and it's instant chemistry between them. The plot twist? She's his boss's sister! They end up getting assigned to work on a film together, and as they spend time collaborating, they genuinely start falling for each other. Sameer gets so caught up with Sanjana that he basically ghosts Shikha, which obviously doesn't go over well when she comes back and realizes what's been happening.
Things get messy pretty quickly—Shikha and Sameer break up, but then the boss decides to arrange a wedding between Sameer and Sanjana. Here's where things get interesting though, because Sameer has to figure out what he actually wants and who his heart really belongs to. It's all about him realizing what truly matters to him and having to make some tough choices.
