Director Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury attempts an ambitious moral thriller with "Bulundi," crafting a narrative that pivots smartly from what initially appears to be a feel-good redemption story into something far more sinister. The film's greatest strength lies in this structural subversion—the slow reveal that Satish's tutoring empire is built on quicksand, orchestrated by criminals exploiting his desperation. The premise has genuine teeth, and there are moments where the tension crackles, particularly when the protagonist realizes he's been played. However, the execution falters in its middle stretches, where the pacing becomes uneven and certain plot conveniences strain credibility. The supporting characters—the wealthy businessmen pulling strings—occasionally feel more like caricatures than fully realized antagonists, which dilutes the psychological weight the story demands.
The performances carry the film through its rougher passages. The lead actor brings a convincing weariness to Satish, capturing both the seduction of easy money and the mounting dread of entrapment with reasonable nuance. What works particularly well is the domestic fallout—watching his family become collateral damage to his compromises feels earned rather than manufactured. Where the film stumbles is in its climactic resolution, which opts for a somewhat convenient path out rather than exploring the truly harrowing consequences such a situation would demand. Storyline
Satish is this beloved professor living the dream with his wife, sister, and sterling reputation at the college—until his buddy Viju sets him up with a lucrative tutoring gig for Ranjeet Singh Lobo's bratty son Manjeet. He's hesitant at first, but the money talks, and honestly, watching Manjeet transform from an arrogant troublemaker into a decent student is genuinely rewarding. Before he knows it, two more wealthy businessmen—Madan Teja and Babulal Bhakri—are banging down his door asking him to tutor their sons too, and Satish thinks he's struck gold!
Then everything blows up spectacularly when he's accused of leaking exam questions to his private students and gets absolutely fired from the college. The scandal tanks his reputation instantly, and that's when the terrible truth crashes down on him—these rich guys aren't just proud parents looking for tutoring help. They're criminals who've been grooming him this whole time, and they want to drag him into their illegal schemes whether he likes it or not!
Satish is trapped between losing everything and being forced into a criminal underworld, but he's got to find his way out without destroying his family or himself. The film brilliantly shows him fighting back against corruption and greed, proving that integrity matters even when the world's stacked against you. It's a gut-punching reminder that sometimes the people closest to us can betray us in the worst ways!
