Rohit Shetty's "Bol Bachchan" is fundamentally a film about the absurdity of deception, yet it squanders its genuinely intriguing premise with a sledgehammer approach to comedy that feels more indebted to slapstick pantomime than intelligent satire. Ajay Devgn and Abhishek Bachchan share a spirited chemistry, and there are moments—particularly in the early act when Abbas constructs his elaborate web of lies—where the film's situational humor genuinely lands. However, Shetty's direction privileges volume over nuance; the film mistakes louder performances and bigger physical gags for deeper comedy. Prithviraj Sukumaran's character, designed as the moral anchor, is so thinly sketched that his eventual explosive reactions feel unearned rather than cathartic. The supporting cast, especially in the "fake mother" subplot, devolves into caricature that borders on uncomfortable rather than endearing.

What's most frustrating is that beneath the chaos lies a film that understands the anxiety of identity and belonging—themes that resonate in Indian cinema, particularly in stories about newcomers and outsiders. Devgn's performance occasionally touches these deeper notes, especially in scenes exploring Abbas's genuine affection for Prithviraj amid the deception. But these moments are drowned out by inexplicable detours and a climax that abandons character logic entirely in favor of spectacle. Compared to Shetty's earlier work, "Bol Bachchan" is more aggressively produced but narratively s

Storyline

So basically, this guy Abbas gets into some serious trouble back in Delhi after losing a legal battle over his family home. He ends up in jail for beating up a lawyer, and when he gets out, nobody wants to hire him. His buddy Shastri convinces him to start fresh in this small town called Ranakpur and promises him a job working for this wealthy guy named Prithviraj. When Abbas arrives there, he actually saves a kid from drowning but accidentally breaks into a temple in the process, which creates this whole awkward situation.

To avoid looking bad in front of Prithviraj and causing religious drama, Abbas pretends his name is actually Abhishek Bachchan instead of Abbas. Prithviraj ends up hiring him and seems like a genuinely good guy, but there's one problem—he absolutely despises liars and is super harsh with people who deceive him. So naturally, when Prithviraj later discovers Abbas celebrating Eid, Abbas panics and makes things way worse by inventing an entire fake twin brother named Abbas who's supposedly an effeminate Kathak dancer.

One lie leads to another, and Abbas gets himself into increasingly ridiculous situations trying to keep up his stories. He even recruits some random dancer to pretend to be his mother, which obviously creates all kinds of chaotic and hilarious moments. The whole thing spirals as Abbas keeps digging himself deeper into this hole of deception, and you can imagine how messy things get when you're trying to juggle this many fake identities and relatives that don't actually exist.
