5.5/10Critic Score

Taapsee Pannu carries "Blurr" on her capable shoulders with a performance that mines genuine emotional depth from what could have been a one-note revenge thriller. The dual burden she shoulders—investigating her twin sister's suspicious death while battling her own deteriorating vision—gives the narrative a propulsive urgency that the script doesn't always deserve. Director Ajay Bahl attempts to weave psychological tension with the ticking clock of Gayatri's failing eyesight, and there are moments where this layering works, particularly in sequences where the cinematography mirrors her perspective. However, the film struggles with uneven pacing and a mystery that unfolds in disappointingly predictable ways, undermining the setup's promise.

Where "Blurr" falters most is in its inability to sustain the psychological complexity it establishes. The thriller mechanics feel borrowed from a dozen similar films, and the supporting cast is criminally underutilized, reducing potentially complex characters to mere plot devices. The technical execution—the sound design and visual treatment of Gayatri's vision loss—deserves mention for its thoughtfulness, yet these elements can't compensate for a narrative that takes the scenic route to a destination we've already anticipated. Pannu's commitment prevents this from being a complete misfire, but the film needed sharper writing and tighter direction to fully capitalize on its intriguing premise.

Storyline

So basically, this movie follows a woman named Gayatri who gets hit with the devastating news that her twin sister has died unexpectedly. Here's the twist though – her sister was blind, and there's definitely something fishy about how she died. Gayatri becomes obsessed with figuring out what really happened and who might be responsible.

The thing that makes this story really intense is that while Gayatri's investigating this mystery, she's also dealing with her own vision problems that are getting worse. It's like she's racing against time to solve this case before she loses her sight completely, which adds this crazy layer of tension to everything she's trying to do.

It's basically a psychological thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Gayatri has to use her wits and determination to get to the bottom of her sister's death while simultaneously coping with her deteriorating eyesight. The whole vibe is pretty gripping as you watch her navigate this dangerous investigation.
