"Bad Aur Badnam" presents an intriguing premise that plays with the classic buddy-cop formula, and it's to director's credit that he extracts genuine chemistry between Sanjeev Kumar and Shatrughan Sinha. Their transition from antagonistic sparring to reluctant partnership forms the film's backbone, and both actors bring a certain swagger to their roles that elevates what could have been routine spy-thriller material. Kumar's slick portrayal of James and Sinha's grounded intensity as Ashwinikumar create moments of authentic crackling tension, particularly in their early encounters. The film understands that the best partnerships often emerge from friction, and this dynamic does carry considerable entertainment value.

However, the screenplay struggles to maintain its momentum beyond these character interactions. The central mystery involving the assassination plot and the three crooks' cash heist feels somewhat diffused, with plotting that doesn't always cohere logically. The introduction of Pedro's murder and the "mysterious rich guy" element could have been either more developed or trimmed entirely. The supporting narrative threads feel underbaked, and while the climactic sequences attempt grandeur, they don't quite land with the impact the film seems to promise. There's also a curious lack of conviction in how the film balances its geopolitical intrigue with what ultimately becomes a fairly conventional resolution.

Storyline

Three crooks score big with a stash of cash and get new identities from a mysterious rich guy Pedro, who promptly gets murdered for his trouble. Enter James, a slick Ringanian spy played by Sanjeev Kumar, and Ashwinikumar, an equally talented Indian Intelligence Bureau agent played by Shatrughan Sinha — both operating at peak prowess and absolutely unstoppable. These two alpha agents immediately butt heads over a misunderstanding, becoming sworn enemies even though their real jobs keep forcing them to work the same cases.

Ashwinikumar's chasing down a plot to assassinate some bigshot in New Delhi while James is running his own sneaky Ringanian operation on Indian soil, and naturally they keep getting in each other's way. Every confrontation between them crackles with tension and ego, but eventually they smarten up and realize they're actually on the same side. The chemistry shifts instantly — from antagonistic sparring to grudging respect to full-blown partnership!

Once they finally sync up, these two become an unstoppable force hell-bent on unraveling the conspiracy and taking down the real villains. The mystery deepens with every clue they uncover together, and watching Sanjeev Kumar and Shatrughan Sinha play off each other's energy is just electric. By the climax, they're not just agents solving a case — they're legends taking down evil and proving that sometimes the best partnerships come from the fiercest rivalries!
