Rajshree Thakur's "Aisha" is an entertaining if somewhat scattered adaptation of Jane Austen's "Emma," transplanted to the glittering world of Delhi's privileged elite. Sonam Kapoor brings infectious energy to the titular character—a well-meaning meddler wrapped in designer labels and romantic delusion—and there's genuine chemistry between her and Abhishek Bachchan's Arjun, even if their arc feels predictable from the opening frames. The film's strongest asset is its refusal to take itself too seriously; it embraces the frothy, gossip-magazine texture of its world without pretense. However, the screenplay struggles with tonal inconsistency, oscillating between sharp social observation and melodramatic tangents, and several supporting characters—particularly poor Shefali—feel more like plot devices than fully realized people affected by Aisha's meddling.

What ultimately undermines "Aisha" is its failure to dig deeper into the central thesis. Unlike Austenian adaptations such as Clueless or even the more recent interpretations, this film doesn't interrogate the moral weight of Aisha's interference or the vulnerability beneath her privilege with any real consequence. The romantic revelation with Randhir (Atul Kulkarni) should feel like a genuine blindside that forces self-reckoning, but it plays more as a plot convenience than a character reckoning. Kapoor's eventual humbling feels superficial—a rom-com requirement rather than earned growth. The film works as a lighthearted dat

Storyline

So there's this super wealthy girl named Aisha who basically thinks she's a professional matchmaker, even though she's just meddling in her friends' love lives for fun. Everyone around her, especially her brother-in-law and this guy Arjun who lives nearby, keeps telling her to mind her own business, but she doesn't listen. She decides her next big project is to set up her simpler, small-town friend Shefali with a rich candy business owner named Randhir, which her best friend Pinky isn't thrilled about.

While Aisha's busy playing cupid for Shefali and Randhir, she ends up meeting her aunt's stepson Dhruv and totally crushes on him. Around the same time, Arjun introduces Aisha to this cool girl named Aarti who's visiting from New York, and honestly, Aisha gets pretty jealous and weird about her. Then Randhir plans this whole river rafting trip where Aisha thinks she can finally get Shefali and Randhir to bond, and she even advises Shefali to turn down another guy who's interested in her so she'll focus on Randhir instead.

But here's where things get messy—during the rafting trip, Randhir takes Aisha for a walk and completely catches her off guard by confessing his feelings for her instead of Shefali. Aisha's left totally confused and questioning whether she actually knows anything about love and relationships, which makes her start doubting her whole matchmaking thing.
