Shakti Samanta

Shakti Samanta was a powerhouse director and producer who founded Shakti Films in 1957 and dominated Hindi cinema for nearly five decades. From the late 1950s through the 1970s, he delivered some of Bollywood's most iconic films, including the romantic classic *Aradhana* (1969), the emotional masterpiece *Amar Prem* (1972), and the poignant *Kati Patang* (1971). His knack for blending romance, drama, and social themes earned him three Filmfare Awards for Best Film, cementing his reputation as one of the era's most commercially and critically successful filmmakers. Whether it was the elegance of *An Evening in Paris* (1967) or the charm of *Kashmir Ki Kali* (1964), Samanta had an unmistakable golden touch.
