Naya Sansar

Naya Sansar Productions was born from the success of a 1941 film that struck gold right out of the gate. The production house takes its name from that debut film—also called Naya Sansar ("New World")—which was all about radical journalism and made waves with critics and audiences alike. Khwaja Ahmad Abbas, a journalist-turned-screenwriter who penned the original film, was so impressed with what he'd created that he decided to build an entire production company around that winning formula. The original film itself was a critical darling, earning Abbas the Bengal Film Journalists' Association Award for best story and screenplay, and proved that stories about truth-telling and social change could pack a punch at the box office. What sets Naya Sansar Productions apart is its DNA: it was literally built on a foundation of socially conscious storytelling and journalistic integrity.
