Dev Anand was a true Bollywood institution—an actor, director, producer, and writer who practically helped shape Hindi cinema as we know it. Born in 1923 in Punjab, he burst onto screens in 1946 and went on to dominate Indian cinema for over six decades, working in more than 100 films. He's credited with kickstarting the "Bombay Noir" movement with the crime thriller *Baazi* (1951), and from there, he was unstoppable—consistently starring in blockbusters like *Guide*, *Jewel Thief*, and *Johny Mera Naam*. His talent didn't go unnoticed; he won four Filmfare Awards and earned the Padma Bhushan and Dadasaheb Phalke Award from the Indian government, cementing his legacy as one of the greatest actors in Indian cinema history.
