Neeraj Vora was a true comedy architect of Bollywood who carved out a legendary career spanning over three decades. Starting as a brilliant screenwriter, he caught the industry's attention with his razor-sharp dialogues for Ram Gopal Verma's cult classic Rangeela in 1995. His directorial venture Khiladi 420 launched him as a filmmaker who understood comedy like few others could, but it was his work as a writer that made him absolutely indispensable—he penned some of the most quotable, laugh-out-loud comedy films of the 2000s, including the iconic Hera Pheri franchise, Garam Masala, Bhagam Bhag, Golmaal: Fun Unlimited, and Bhool Bhulaiya. Beyond the director's chair and writing desk, Vora was also a talented actor and composer who wore multiple hats with ease. What made Neeraj Vora special was his knack for blending intelligent humor with mass appeal—his comedies never talked down to the audience, instead relying on witty wordplay, clever situations, and genuine character moments. His directorial follow-up, Phir Hera Pheri, solidified his status as the go-to guy for smart comedy cinema. Whether writing or directing, Vora had this magical ability to craft scenes that became cultural touchstones, with dialogues people still quote years later. Sadly, a stroke in October 2016 cut short his creative journey, and Bollywood lost one of its finest comedy minds when he passed away in December 2017, leaving behind a treasure trove of films that continue to entertain audiences.
