Chaiti Ghoshal
Chaiti Ghoshal is an acclaimed Indian actress who's carved out an impressive career spanning Bengali theatre, film, and television, with notable Hindi film appearances too. Born in Kolkata to celebrated actor Shyamal Ghoshal, she literally grew up in the spotlight—literally, as a child artist in the legendary Bohurpee theatre group, where she debuted in an iconic adaptation of Rabindranath Tagore's Dakghar. Throughout her career, she's collaborated with some of India's most respected directors like Aparna Sen and Goutam Ghose, earning critical acclaim for unforgettable roles like Madhabi in the beloved TV series Ek Akasher Niche. Her portrayals of Tagore's female characters, particularly Nandini in Raktakarabi, have become particularly celebrated, while her Hindi film work includes titles like Parama and 22 Yards. What really sets Chaiti apart is her commitment to pushing boundaries and giving back to the art form. Beyond acting, she's recently stepped into directing with her feature film Nevermind, which premiered to solid acclaim and starred Rituparna Sengupta and Amartya Ray. In a beautiful full-circle moment, she revived her late father's theatre troupe, Offbeat Theatre, and directed a stunning production of Raktakarabi that proved she's just as talented behind the camera as in front of it. Her blend of classical training, contemporary sensibility, and genuine passion for storytelling makes her one of the more thoughtful and versatile voices in Indian cinema right now.
