Arun Govil

Arun Govil is best known for landing one of Indian television's most iconic roles—Lord Rama in the legendary 1987 Ramayan series that had the entire nation glued to their screens. Born in Meerut in 1952, Govil built a solid film career alongside his TV fame, appearing in movies like Himmatwala and Dilwaala during the 80s. He even lent his voice to the animated Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama in 1993, keeping the character alive across mediums. Beyond acting, he's held significant cultural weight as the man who essentially became the face of Lord Rama for an entire generation of Indian viewers. What really set Govil apart was his ability to embody divinity with remarkable grace and authenticity—the kind of performance that transcended entertainment and became part of India's cultural fabric.
