6.2/10Critic Score

Vijeta wears its pulp thriller ambitions proudly, and there's genuine electricity in watching Ashok's transformation from grieving junior advocate to a man consumed by vendetta. The premise—a young lawyer systematically hunting his mentor's killers while caught in an impossible romance with the investigating officer—has all the ingredients for a gripping cat-and-mouse game. Director manages to build real tension in those interrogation scenes where Ashok smoothly delivers alibis while Vijayalaxmi's eyes betray the war between her duty and her heart. Those moments crackle because the film understands that the best thrillers live in the space between what's said and what's felt.

However, the film stumbles when it reaches for the big twists. The final revelation about the Mayor's murder and whether someone truly frames Ashok feels rushed and convenient rather than earned—you can sense the director choosing plot mechanics over character logic. The supporting cast, particularly in portraying the crime boss Vidhya Sagar's empire, lacks the menace needed to make Ashok's quest feel existentially urgent. What could have been a taut revenge thriller becomes baggy in its second half, relying on convenience rather than consequence. The chemistry between the leads carries you through despite these missteps, and you leave wanting more from what could have been a truly exceptional film.

Storyline

Advocate Durga Prasad gets absolutely blindsided when a crucial case file never arrives and his client mysteriously dies before they can even fight! When a wronged government employee approaches him for help, Durga and his team jump in with fire in their bellies, but this guy gets killed too. Then tragedy strikes like a thunderbolt—Durga and his wife Laxmi are gunned down in broad daylight right outside the courthouse, leaving everyone stunned and furious.

Ashok, one of Durga's juniors, transforms into a man on a mission of vengeance, hunting down the killers one by one and discovering they all work for the powerful crime boss Vidhya Sagar. But here's where it gets spicy—Ashok's falling hard for Police Inspector Vijayalaxmi, who's been assigned to catch him, and she keeps questioning him about the murders. Every time she grills him, he smoothly provides alibis that check out, keeping her frustrated and conflicted between duty and love!

Everything explodes when the Mayor of Bangalore gets murdered and Vijayalaxmi finally catches Ashok red-handed at the scene! Now the ultimate question hangs in the air like a sword—did Ashok actually kill the Mayor, or is someone else playing this dangerous game and framing him? The tension between his love for Vijaya and the mounting evidence is absolutely crackling, and you're left breathless wondering if there's a mastermind pulling strings behind the scenes!
