Rajkummar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor bring infectious energy to what could have been a clever romantic comedy, but "Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar" ultimately collapses under the weight of its own cynicism. The premise—a man who helps couples break up falls for someone who wants to break up with him—has genuine comedic potential, and the first half mines some laughs from the absurdity of the situation. However, once the revenge games begin, the film loses sight of what made us care about Mickey and Tinni in the first place. Instead of two people in love learning to communicate, we're watching them become increasingly petty and manipulative, and the screenplay seems to celebrate their emotional immaturity rather than challenge it. Director Luv Ranjan's style is slick and the chemistry between the leads carries you through moments, but there's a hollowness at the film's core—it mistakes chaos for comedy and treats dishonesty as romance.

What's frustrating is that the film occasionally hints at something more meaningful: the scene where Mickey realizes Tinni called the break-up service could have been a turning point for genuine vulnerability, but instead it becomes the launchpad for elaborate pranks. Storyline

So basically, this guy Mickey runs this hilarious side hustle with his buddy where they help people break up with their partners, right? Everything's going great until Mickey actually falls for this girl Tinni during a trip to Spain, and they seem like the perfect match. Both families are thrilled, wedding's being planned, and you think this is just a cute love story.

But then plot twist — Tinni gets cold feet and decides she wants out, so she calls up a break-up consultant without realizing she's literally calling her own boyfriend. Mickey figures out it's her on the phone and honestly, he's devastated that she didn't just talk to him about her doubts like a normal person. Instead of being the mature guy, he decides to mess with her and turn the tables.

From there, it becomes this whole game where Mickey's trying to out-manipulate the manipulator using these ridiculous schemes. The horoscope thing doesn't work, so he moves on to making her jealous, and she's hiring random people to help with her plans. It's pure chaos and comedy watching two people who supposedly love each other just trying to outsmart one another instead of having an actual conversation.
