5/10Critic Score

Shera stumbles through familiar vigilante territory without breaking much new ground, though it commits fully to its grimy premise. The film's central conceit—a man transforming into an avenging force after personal tragedy—is competent but predictable, executed with workmanlike efficiency rather than creative spark. The performances are serviceable; the lead carries the weight of the rage-driven narrative adequately, and there's chemistry when needed between the key players. What undermines the whole affair is director's inability to elevate the material beyond standard crime-revenge melodrama. The action sequences, while competently shot, lack the visceral punch or inventive choreography that might compensate for the formulaic storytelling. The supporting cast feels largely wasted, relegated to functional roles rather than given space to breathe.

Where Shera truly falters is in its narrative execution. The pacing drags in the second act as the film spins its wheels with repetitive confrontations and predictable betrayals—you'll spot the twist coming from three acts away. The emotional core that should anchor this descent into darkness feels hollow; we're told Jai's pain matters, but the screenplay doesn't earn our investment through nuance or complexity. Instead, we get blunt, heavy-handed scenes designed to trigger anger rather than understanding. The criminal underworld depicted here could be any underworld from any similar film made in the last decade. There's no voice

Storyline

So there's this construction guy named Jai who's got a pretty decent life going with his cop wife Shivani. But things get messy when his sister's college becomes a hotspot for drug dealers, and Shivani decides to crack down on the whole operation. She ends up arresting someone connected to a major drug lord, and that's when everything starts falling apart for Jai and his family.

The situation gets really intense when Jai witnesses a murder and is supposed to testify against some dangerous gang members. But then the gang kidnaps his sister to keep him quiet, and he backs down. When tragedy strikes and his sister is killed, something snaps inside Jai, and he unleashes his dark side—a brutal version of himself called Shera. He teams up with a guy named Chandola who's also been hurt by the drug trade, and together they decide to take down the entire criminal underworld and all the gang leaders who've caused so much pain.

What follows is basically all-out warfare as Shera goes on a rampage against the drug mafia and the various gang members terrorizing the city. There are betrayals along the way and plenty of intense confrontations as he tries to settle scores and protect the people he loves. The whole thing becomes a battle between Shera and the crime syndicates that have destroyed so many lives, with everything building toward a final showdown.
