2/10Critic Score

"Saare Jahaan Se Mehnga" arrives with a genuinely clever premise—inflation as the villain of an ordinary middle-class family's story—and director Anshul Sharma clearly means well. The performances are earnest, the humor is clean, and there's an authenticity to how the film captures its world that doesn't feel artificially amplified. But intention alone doesn't make cinema, and this is where the film spectacularly stumbles. The central idea, however whacky and relevant, never evolves beyond its surface-level pitch. What could've been a sharp social commentary instead limps along, stretching a concept that would've worked better as a tightly-wound TV episode into a feature that feels padded and repetitive even at under two hours.

The real problem isn't what the film attempts—it's that it settles for attempting without executing. The writers had their clever hook but failed to build anything substantial around it, leaving audiences wondering why this story needed to be told at all, let alone in this format. The film's heart is in the right place, genuinely so, but sincerity without narrative momentum is just tedium wrapped in good intentions. "Saare Jahaan Se Mehnga" is a well-meaning misfire that mistakes topicality for storytelling depth.
