Raid is a tightly wound thriller that understands the appeal of a straightforward good-versus-corrupt narrative, and it executes that formula with surprising competence. Ajay Devgn delivers a restrained, methodical performance as Amay Patnaik—no chest-thumping heroics, just a man grinding through bureaucratic channels and literal walls to expose corruption. Raj Kumar Gupta's direction is workmanlike but effective; the raid sequences have genuine tension, and the cat-and-mouse interplay between Devgn and Saurabh Shukla (as the antagonist) crackles with intelligence rather than melodrama. The period setting feels lived-in rather than costumed, and the film trusts its audience enough to let suspense build through smart writing instead of manufactured sentiment.

But let's be clear—this is a crowd-pleaser, not a masterwork. The script, while sharp, doesn't dig deep enough into systemic corruption to become truly substantive; it's content to be a procedural thriller rather than a social commentary. The family drama subplot feels obligatory, and some supporting characters are barely sketched. Gupta occasionally leans on convenient plot mechanics (that accidental gun reveal is peak Bollywood contrivance), which slightly undermines the realism he's otherwise building. Yet none of these are fatal flaws. Raid succeeds because it knows exactly what it is—a well-made cat-and-mouse game about integrity—and refuses to oversell itself with unnecessary grandstanding.
