Radhe Shyam is a film that mistakes ambition for execution, wrapping itself in the aesthetic trappings of a European period romance while stumbling over the fundamental craft of storytelling. Prabhas brings his signature intensity to Vikramaditya, the globe-trotting palmist, but the character remains frustratingly one-dimensional—a brooding romantic archetype without the psychological depth that could anchor a nearly three-hour film. Pooja Hegde fares slightly better as Dr. Prerana, injecting warmth into what is essentially a reactive role, yet their chemistry feels performative rather than organic. Director Radha Krishna's visual ambitions—those Italian landscapes, the production design—are undeniably glossy, but they become mere distraction from a script that substitutes mysticism for meaning and fate for genuine character development. The film recalls the grandiose romanticism of Shuddh Desi Romance or even Kabali's more self-indulgent moments, but lacks the emotional authenticity that made those films memorable.

Storyline

In 1978 Italy, renowned palmist Vikramaditya has earned international acclaim for his abilities—so much so that he's fled to Rome after making a dangerous prediction to India's Prime Minister. The self-proclaimed playboy has built a reputation on reading fate in people's hands while maintaining emotional distance from romantic entanglements, until he crosses paths with Dr. Prerana, a clumsy but captivating physician aboard a train.

When Aditya's palm-reading leads him to predict that a powerful businessman's son cannot succeed in politics, the prediction sets off a chain of events that lands him in Prerana's hospital. Their chance encounter transforms into a complicated romance as Aditya pursues her relentlessly, eventually convincing her to enter into what he calls a casual relationship. However, Prerana's protective uncle warns her against deepening her feelings for the charming astrologer.

As Aditya and Prerana travel together, the palmist encounters an aspiring archer named Tara and her father, who request a reading of the young woman's future. The prediction he makes about Tara sets into motion further complications that will test the fragile relationship between the two leads.
