5/10Critic Score

Look, "Pyaar Mein Twist" had the bones of a decent middle-aged romance—two widowed protagonists with chemistry, real family baggage, and the promise of something genuine. The opening intersection scene between Yash and Sheetal actually crackles with wit; there's a sharpness to their banter that suggests the film knows what it's doing. But then it squanders every ounce of that promise by retreating into the safest, most predictable rom-com territory imaginable. The "meet-cute that leads to romance" formula gets executed with all the originality of a xeroxed photocopy, and by the second half, you're watching the same recycled Bollywood beats we've endured a thousand times over. The son's insecurity subplot barely registers, and Sheetal's daughter's wedding drama becomes just another obstacle rather than something that actually matters thematically.

The performances are competent but uninspired—our leads seem to be going through the motions rather than mining the emotional depth two mature actors should bring to roles about second chances at love. Director fails to find any visual language or comedic timing that could elevate the material, settling instead for soft-focus romance sequences that feel lifted from a 2005 template. The film confuses "safe" with "satisfying," and what could have been a refreshing take on love after loss becomes just another forgettable entry in the endless conveyor belt of forgettable Bollywood rom-coms. Even the chemistry between the leads can't ove

Storyline

So basically, this guy Yash is this big-shot CEO of a major car company who decides to retire and hand over the business to his son Rajiv. Thing is, Rajiv's a smart guy but super insecure about living up to his dad's legacy. Meanwhile, Yash gets into this hilarious altercation with a woman named Sheetal at a busy intersection—she almost hits him with her car, and when he complains to a cop, she straight-up points out that he's breaking the law by walking two dogs at once. It's pretty funny how they just clash right from the start.

What's interesting is that both Yash and Sheetal are widowed and devoted to their families, so they've got way more in common than they initially realize. Sheetal is dealing with her own family drama, especially since she's trying to arrange her daughter Riya's wedding to this guy named Sanju. The problem is that Sanju's mom, Madhu, thinks Riya isn't good enough for her son because of their different social backgrounds, so she keeps throwing up obstacles to sabotage the relationship.

The two of them keep running into each other after their first meeting, and there's definitely some chemistry brewing between Yash and Sheetal. They start going out together, doing all the typical romantic stuff like dancing and having nice dinners, and you can see they're genuinely developing feelings for each other. It's the kind of setup where you know there's going to be some interesting complications ahead!
