Nyaydaata attempts to weave together the survival-thriller and whodunit genres, a combination that has worked brilliantly in Hindi cinema—think Tumbbad's atmospheric dread or even the investigative tension of Badlapur. However, director's execution here feels muddled, caught between committing to either genuine horror or mystery procedural. The premise itself is compelling: a forest outing turning into a nightmare where friends vanish and the protagonist becomes the scapegoat. What's missing is the tautness required to sustain such high-stakes paranoia. The performances seem serviceable rather than riveting—we need an actor who can convincingly convey both isolation and desperation simultaneously, a la Nawazuddin in Badlapur, but the lead here merely registers the emotional beats without truly embodying the psychological fracture such circumstances would inflict.

The structural problem becomes evident in the second act, where the film oscillates between police procedural and personal mystery without building coherent momentum. The twists, when they arrive, feel obligatory rather than earned, lacking the narrative groundwork that would make us gasp in recognition. Storyline

Aravind and his buddies head into the forest for what should be an epic adventure, full of laughs and bonding moments. But things spiral fast when his friends start vanishing without a trace, one by one, leaving him bewildered and desperate. The forest that promised freedom becomes a nightmare of mystery and dread!

The situation explodes when the cops show up and point all fingers at Aravind—suddenly he's the prime suspect in what looks like a crime scene.
