Review
Vikram Bose's Review:
Nitin Ghatak's "Mickey Virus" arrives as an earnest attempt at crafting a tech-thriller for mainstream Indian audiences, and while it stumbles considerably in execution, there are moments where genuine effort shines through. Rajpal Yadav, channeling a quirky hacker with surprising restraint, brings a certain charm to Mickey—a character who could easily have become insufferable in lesser hands. The film's premise, threading together cyber-crime with a murder mystery, holds promise, and the supporting cast does admirable work in elevating scenes that are otherwise laden with exposition. Where the film struggles, however, is in its pacing and narrative coherence; the multiple plot threads—the Bhram Gang, the accidental heist, Kamayani's death—feel hastily stitched together rather than organically woven, resulting in a viewing experience that alternates between engagement and exasperation.
The technical filmmaking is competent without being inspired, and Ghatak shows a fair understanding of how to stage a thriller's mechanics. Yet the screenplay's reliance on convenient twists and the detective narrative's by-the-numbers construction undermine what could have been sharper storytelling. The romance subplot particularly feels tacked on, existing primarily to create dramatic complications rather than develop genuine emotional stakes. "Mickey Virus" ultimately occupies that frustrating middle ground—it's neither polished enough to transcend its limitations nor
Storyline
So basically, this tech thriller kicks off when two hackers get killed in Delhi and the cops realize they need someone who knows their way around computers to crack the case. They end up recruiting Mickey, this guy who's super talented with hacking but also pretty lazy—he runs a grocery store by day and works on anti-virus stuff at night with his quirky crew of friends who are always helping him out with weird side gigs. The detective in charge, ACP Siddhanth, convinces Mickey to use his skills to take down this dangerous hacker group called the Bhram Gang.
Things get complicated pretty fast when Mickey starts crushing on Kamayani, a woman who works at a security company. One day there's a mix-up where a huge amount of money accidentally gets transferred, and to save her from getting fired, Mickey hacks into the system to undo it. But plot twist—he accidentally ends up stealing a massive amount of cash that actually belonged to some Dubai mafia guy, and then Kamayani suddenly turns up dead, which puts Mickey in an impossible situation where he could totally get blamed for everything.
Now Mickey's freaking out and turns to his friends for help while he tries to figure out who actually did all this stuff. As he digs deeper and follows the money trail, he starts uncovering some seriously shocking secrets about who might actually be behind everything. It becomes this wild cat-and-mouse game where Mickey has to stay ahead while trying to clear his name and find the real culprit before it's too late.
