5/10Critic Score

Rakesh Roshan's *Krrish* is a masterclass in how to squander a genuinely intriguing premise with bloated execution and pedestrian storytelling. The core concept—a sheltered superhuman discovering the world while grappling with his extraordinary inheritance—has real potential, but the film drowns it in saccharine sentiment and exposition-heavy dialogue. Hrithik Roshan carries the physical demands of the role with grace, his earnest performance almost salvaging scenes that should crackle but instead plod along at a languid pace. Priyanka Chopra's presence adds some spark, but the romantic subplot feels obligatory, existing merely to check boxes rather than develop genuine chemistry or emotional stakes. The grandmother's warnings about the outside world exploiting Krishna ring hollow when the film itself turns his abilities into a spectacle for mass consumption.

Where *Krrish* truly falters is in its visual language and narrative discipline. The CGI looks dated even by 2006 standards, with action sequences that lack the kinetic energy or coherence they desperately need. Roshan the director seems more interested in lingering on his son's pained expressions and philosophical musings than in crafting compelling drama or genuine thrills. The film meanders through its runtime, treating viewers to lengthy sequences of Krishna marveling at technology and city life that add nothing to character development. By the time the actual villain emerges—almost as an afterthought—you've already

Storyline

So basically, there's this guy named Krishna who's been living a super sheltered life in this tiny mountain village his whole life. His grandmother has kept him completely hidden from the world because he's got these incredible superhuman abilities he inherited from his parents. When he was just a kid, his school found out about his powers, so his grandma whisked him away to the mountains to keep him safe and away from people who might take advantage of him.

Years later, Krishna meets these two girls who come to the village on vacation, and he saves one of them from this scary hang glider accident. They hit it off and become really close, and the girls start noticing that he's kind of... unusual in some amazing ways. When they go back to Singapore, they lose their jobs because of their extended vacation, so they come up with this wild idea to bring Krishna to the city and make him the star of a TV show.

Krishna's grandmother is totally against him leaving, which confuses him because he wants to understand why she's being so protective. So she finally tells him the whole backstory about his dad being this brilliant scientist who had some incredible adventures, and how his parents died before Krishna could really know them. She explains that the outside world would just want to use his powers for their own gain, which is why she's always kept him away. Krishna agrees to keep his abilities secret, and his grandmother eventually lets him go to Singapore, though you can tell she's pretty worried about letting him out into the world.
