7/10Critic Score

There's a sweetness to this film that catches you off guard—a genuine warmth that emerges beneath the glamorous surface of a cross-class romance. What works beautifully here is the foundational emotional honesty: Rohit's journey isn't about winning the girl through grand gestures, but about building himself into someone worthy of respect. Director Raj Kanwar captures those quiet moments of vulnerability with surprising tenderness, and Hrithik Roshan's debut performance carries an earnestness that feels lived-in rather than performed. The chemistry between the leads crackles with authenticity, especially in those scenes where banter gives way to genuine connection. When Sonia's jealousy surfaces or when Rohit faces the moral weight of his circumstances, you feel the characters' struggles as real dilemmas, not just plot mechanics. The film understands that love stories are ultimately about the people we choose to become for each other.

Yet the film stumbles when it leans too heavily on its own melodrama. The lifeboat sequence, while narratively pivotal, stretches credibility thin, and there are moments where the script prioritizes romantic sentiment over logical consequence. Sonia's character development occasionally feels surface-level—her transformation happens because of circumstance rather than genuine internal growth. The supporting cast, while charming, doesn't always elevate the material, and some of Kanwar's direction choices feel safer than the story deserves. What co

Storyline

So basically, there's this guy Rohit who's a really talented singer but he's stuck working at a car showroom to support himself and his younger brother. They lost their parents when they were kids, but they were super lucky to be raised by these amazing neighbors who basically became their family. One day at work, he meets Sonia, this gorgeous girl from a super rich industrial family, and even though they're from completely different worlds, they just click and become really close friends pretty fast.

Things heat up when they both end up on a cruise with some friends, and Sonia gets jealous seeing other girls interested in Rohit. After they have a big argument when they're drinking, they somehow end up alone in a lifeboat and drift away to a deserted island. At first they're constantly bickering because Rohit's all serious about their situation while Sonia's being kinda careless, but then something happens that totally changes everything between them and they realize they actually have real feelings for each other.

When they finally get rescued, Sonia's wealthy father is pretty upset about their relationship since Rohit doesn't come from money. This causes some serious problems for Rohit, but he makes it clear he's not going to just run away with Sonia because he wants to earn her father's respect the right way. He decides he needs to build his own success and independence first before they can be together, which honestly shows a lot of character and integrity on his part.
