Rajesh Nagpal's *Kaal* arrives as a survival thriller with genuine ambitions, even if the execution falters under the weight of its own premise. The film's central conceit—a group of tourists and hunters trapped in tiger country where something far more sinister than nature is at work—carries real promise, and there are moments where the tension crackles convincingly. Ajay Devgn brings his characteristic intensity to Krish, the animal expert who becomes the voice of reason, while the supporting cast, particularly Vivek Oberoi as Dev, adds energy to the ensemble dynamic. Nagpal demonstrates a clear visual command of the National Park setting, using the landscape as both antagonist and atmosphere-builder. What's admirable here is the film's refusal to be a simple creature feature; the twist toward human villainy is narratively ambitious.

Yet *Kaal* undermines its own strengths with a script that grows increasingly contrived as it progresses. The supernatural elements that emerge feel grafted onto the survival framework rather than organically woven in, and several plot developments strain credibility—particularly the motivations behind the killings, which are revealed without sufficient buildup or character work to make them resonate. The pacing stumbles in the second half, alternating between languid exposition and sudden bursts of violence that don't always land with impact. The chemistry between the disparate groups never quite solidifies, leaving their interactions feeling

Storyline

So basically, this movie starts with these two British tourists getting attacked by a tiger in this national park in India, and then more tiger attacks keep happening. It gets so bad that National Geographic sends this guy named Krish, who's an animal expert, along with his wife Riya to investigate what's really going on with all these deaths.

Meanwhile, there's this group of young people—Dev and his girlfriend Ishika, plus their buddies Sajid and Vishal—who are out on a hunting trip hoping to bag some big game. Their car breaks down, and they end up getting a ride with this drunk driver named Bagga. By chance, they collide with Krish's car, so the two groups decide to travel together in Bagga's beat-up vehicle while they wait for repairs.

Things get dark pretty quickly once they're all traveling together. A mechanic who was supposed to fix Krish's car just vanishes without a trace, and everyone figures some wild animal got him. Then they find shelter at a guesthouse run by this guy Pandey who offers to take them into tiger territory the next day. But that night, Pandey disappears too, and his body is discovered the following morning in a swamp. Krish, being an expert, starts realizing something's off about all these deaths—they don't look like they're caused by any wild animal at all.
