Vikram Bose's Review:

"Jurm" operates in that precarious space between pulp thriller ambition and execution that can't quite justify its own narrative leaps. The premise—a man framed for his wife's murder, imprisoned, then discovering an elaborate conspiracy—has genuine dramatic potential, and director Rajiv Ruia attempts to wring tension from Avinash's paranoia and subsequent quest for vengeance. What works is the central betrayal by Rohit, which carries a sting of betrayed trust that feels earned. The film doesn't shy away from making its protagonist genuinely unlikeable in the opening act, and there's refreshing honesty in showing how jealousy can poison a marriage before external forces even enter the picture. However, the conspiracy itself—involving the wife's uncle and an orchestrated murder frame—strains credibility without earning our investment through careful plotting.

The performances are serviceable but underutilized. There's a kernel of psychological drama here that could have elevated the material, but instead the film pivots toward revenge spectacle in Malaysia, which feels tonally scattered and dramatically thin. The Malaysia section abandons the domestic tension that made the opening compelling, replacing it with standard action beats and reconvention reveals. Ruia's direction shows competence in building individual scenes, yet struggles with pacing across the full narrative arc—the film meanders when it should compress, and accelerates when patience would

Storyline

So basically this guy Avinash gets super paranoid about his wife Sanjana because he thinks she's being dishonest with him, even over small stuff. He becomes convinced she's cheating on him, and his friends try to get him to chill out but he just gets angrier and angrier. Things blow up when he publicly embarrasses and mistreats her at a party, and then something terrible happens that same night.

The next morning, Avinash finds out he's apparently killed his wife, and he gets sentenced to life in prison. He doesn't believe he actually did it, so he asks his lawyer buddy Rohit to help him escape. Rohit agrees but totally betrays him—he helps him break out only to abandon him and take all his money, leaving him nearly dead.

Avinash gets rescued by his friend Sonia and recovers, then becomes obsessed with getting revenge on Rohit. When he tracks Rohit down in Malaysia, he gets the shock of his life discovering his wife is actually alive and living with Rohit. It turns out there's this whole conspiracy involving Sanjana, Rohit, and her uncle to frame him. Now Avinash is determined to make them pay for what they've done to him.
