Review

5.4/10Critic Score

Jodi Breakers stumbles more often than it succeeds, yet there's an undeniable charm in its central conceit—a divorce consultant turning matchmaker is premise enough to sustain a light romantic comedy. The film's first half genuinely entertains with witty banter between its leads and the moral ambiguity of profiting from marital breakdown. However, the second half descends into contrived plotting, where the Greece-set setup becomes little more than an exotic backdrop for recycled Bollywood rom-com tropes. Pawan Kripalani's direction lacks the sharpness needed to elevate predictable turns; the film meanders when it should accelerate, and the emotional pivot—from breaking couples to fixing them—feels more mechanical than earned.

Kapoor and Sharma do deserve credit for their chemistry and comic timing, which occasionally rescue scenes that would otherwise collapse under their own heaviness. The supporting cast, particularly in the Parera subplot, feels underutilized, and the film's moral questions about professional ethics are raised then casually abandoned. There's also a tonal inconsistency: the film can't decide whether it's a clever satire on marriage or a sincere romance, so it becomes neither convincingly. That said, it's never unwatchable—the runtime moves briskly, and there are genuine laughs scattered throughout, suggesting the filmmakers understood their audience's appetite for uncomplicated entertainment.

Storyline

So there's this guy Sid who just got divorced and is basically celebrating his newfound freedom with his buddies, though he's still bitter about losing his beloved car and paying crazy alimony. Fast forward a bit, and he's found this interesting gig working as a divorce consultant. That's when he partners up with this sharp woman named Sonali, and together they become known as the "Jodi Breakers" – basically professional couple-splitters who help people end their marriages for good money.

Their latest job brings them to Greece working for Mrs. Parera, whose husband Marc is allegedly cheating on her with some woman named Maggie. Sid and Sonali fly out there to gather evidence and do their sneaky detective work. But here's where things get interesting – Sonali's developing feelings for Sid without him knowing, and Sid suddenly has a change of heart about breaking up the Pareras.

So instead of helping Mrs. Parera with the divorce, Sid convinces Sonali that they should actually try to save the marriage instead. They come up with this elaborate scheme involving fake photos, impersonations, and various tricks to try and get Marc and his wife back on track. It's pretty entertaining watching these two professionals use all their couple-breaking tactics in reverse to fix things up!
