Preity Zinta returns to the screen with Paris as her backdrop, but "Ishkq in Paris" squanders both the city's romance and its lead's considerable charm on a flimsy premise that mistakes superficiality for sophistication. The setup—two commitment-phobic travelers meeting on a train and agreeing to a consequence-free fling—could work as a breezy rom-com in the right hands, but director Prem Soni seems content to let Zinta coast through pretty European locations while the narrative meanders without purpose or wit. The film confuses cynicism with depth, presenting Ishkq's casual approach to relationships as some kind of enlightenment rather than examining what drives such emotional avoidance. Akash remains a cipher, and their chemistry, while pleasant enough, never transcends the screen-test phase—we watch two actors smile at each other against Parisian backdrops rather than witnessing a genuine connection unfold.

What's genuinely frustrating is how poorly constructed the emotional arc becomes once the couple actually reaches Paris. The "no strings attached" agreement that seemed so modern and refreshing on the train quickly reveals itself as a stalling tactic, and the film lurches clumsily toward conventional romance beats without earning a single moment. Zinta deserves better material than this; she's capable of vulnerability and wit, but she's given neither. The supporting cast fades into wallpaper, the dialogue lands with all the impact of a feather, and by the second act, y

Storyline

So basically, the movie is set in Paris, this gorgeous city that's supposedly all about romance and love. There's this girl named Ishkq who was born and raised there, and she's played by Preity Zinta. She's a photographer and playwright who's totally cynical about serious relationships—she just wants to have fun and keep things super casual with zero strings attached. Then there's this guy Akash who's heading to Paris by train, and he's actually on his way to London but decided to catch a ride through Paris first.

When Akash and Ishkq meet on the train, there's instant chemistry between them. They start flirting, drinking wine, and just vibing together. Akash tells her he's originally from Delhi but moved to London, and Ishkq shares that she loves traveling around—she was just in Rome enjoying the attention from Italian waiters. They're both kind of in the same headspace about not wanting anything complicated or serious.

At the end of their train ride, Akash asks if they can spend more time together once they get to Paris. Ishkq is hesitant at first, but then she agrees to hang out with him. The best part is they both understand each other perfectly—they both want to keep things light and fun with no expectations of ever meeting again or even exchanging contact information. It's like they're on the same wavelength from the start, which is pretty refreshing actually.
