5/10Critic Score

Rajkummar Rao carries this film on his capable shoulders, embodying Ishaan with a vulnerability that gradually peeks through layers of insufferable arrogance. Director Kapoor attempts something meaningful—a love story wrapped around a man's reckoning with his own selfishness—but the execution falters under the weight of predictable tropes and rushed emotional beats. The chemistry between Rao and Chitrangda Singh sparkles in fleeting moments, particularly when their characters share quiet conversations about life's uncertainties, yet these tender scenes feel like islands in a sea of melodrama. The narrative tries to juggle too many threads: the spoiled son, the wronged girlfriend, the nurturing neighbor, the business venture—and in trying to address them all, none receive the depth they deserve.

What could have been a poignant coming-of-age story gets diluted by conventional Bollywood sentimentality and a climax that feels more like an obligation than an earned resolution. The film's heart lies in its exploration of responsibility and love, and occasionally it reaches those emotional heights where you genuinely feel Ishaan's transformation. But more often, it relies on dramatic coincidences and manufactured tension rather than allowing his character to grow organically. Kapoor's direction shows promise but lacks the finesse to balance humor, romance, and drama into something truly cohesive. The supporting cast does what they can with underwritten roles, but even their earnest

Storyline

So basically, this movie is about this super arrogant music producer guy named Ishaan who's totally spoiled and has his mom and sister wrapped around his little finger. He's got a girlfriend he completely takes for granted, and when she finally gets fed up and kicks him out, he meets this amazing neighbor named Gauri. He starts falling for her while his life is falling apart—he loses his job and everything.

Things get messy pretty quickly because his ex-girlfriend ends up pregnant without telling him it's his kid, and meanwhile he's got plans to move to Paris with Gauri after launching his own music company. But life has other plans, and everything comes to a head on the day of his big launch when his ex goes into labor and he realizes he's got some growing up to do.

Without giving away how things wrap up, I'll just say the movie's really about Ishaan learning what it actually means to be responsible and care about someone other than himself. It's got that typical Bollywood mix of romance, family drama, and personal growth, with some pretty emotional moments that make you rethink what really matters in life.
