Review
Vikram Bose here. *Humraaz* arrives as a slick con-thriller that understands the assignment of keeping audiences guessing, even if it doesn't always execute with precision. The film's central premise—a couple orchestrating an elaborate scheme to defraud a wealthy businessman—has genuine intrigue, and director Tanaji Saxena demonstrates a workmanlike competence in pacing the narrative beats. Bobby Deol brings a certain tenderness to Raj that prevents him from becoming a mere mark, while Emraan Hashmi channels the calculated menace required of a man willing to sacrifice everything for the con. Priya's character arc, anchored by solid supporting work, carries the emotional weight the screenplay desperately needs when the betrayals start compounding. The cruise settings are utilized effectively for both romance and tension.
What undoes the film's potential, however, is a third act that conflates complexity with confusion. The blackmail subplot feels hastily integrated rather than organically woven, and the film never quite decides whether it's exploring moral ambiguity or indulging in straightforward thrills. Saxena's direction, while competent, lacks the stylistic flourish that might have elevated routine moments into something memorable. The supporting cast struggles to justify their presence, and the climactic sequences rely on contrivances that strain credibility even within the film's own logic. For all its glossy production values and earnest performances, *Humraaz* remain
Storyline
So there's this dance couple, Karan and Priya, who are totally into each other and dream about living the high life together. After getting screwed over by a rival dancer on a cruise gig, things get pretty dark pretty fast. When they finally land a performance on an actual luxury cruise owned by this rich businessman named Raj, everything kicks into high gear and they see their chance to make some serious money.
Raj spots Priya on the cruise and becomes completely smitten with her, having no clue that she's already with Karan or that they're working together to con him out of his fortune. He actually befriends Karan too, which makes the whole situation even messier. Eventually Raj proposes and they get married, with Priya playing along while she and Karan execute their scheme to drain his wealth.
But then things start falling apart when someone from the dance troupe figures out what's really going on and starts blackmailing them. On top of that, Priya actually catches real feelings for Raj after he shows her how much he cares about her, especially when she gets hurt.
