Review
There's an intoxicating romanticism to the way this film embraces the eternal return—that belief that love transcends death itself. When Raja threatens to walk backward off a cliff for Rani, it's audacious, foolish, utterly Bollywood, and yet in that moment, you feel the desperation of a man willing to risk everything. The first act captures that delirious rush of obsessive love beautifully, and the chemistry between the leads makes you surrender to their story completely. But the magic shatters the moment Yash becomes jealous. What could have been a nuanced exploration of friendship destroyed by desire instead becomes a melodramatic murder—and while Rani's decision to follow Raja into death is undeniably powerful, it feels more like the film is checking boxes than earning our tears through character depth.
The reincarnation narrative, promising redemption and cosmic justice, is where the film loses its footing entirely. Reshma and Raju's reunion lacks the electric intensity of the original pair; instead of feeling fated, their connection feels mechanically assembled. The director attempts to recycle the emotional beats of the first half, but repetition without genuine innovation becomes exhausting rather than cathartic. Yash's character remains a villain-shaped void—we never truly understand the man behind the jealousy, which makes his eventual comeuppance feel hollow. The film wants you to believe in the triumph of love across lifetimes, but it settles for surface-level sp
Storyline
Raja's instant obsession with Rani sparks pure magic when he spots her at college, and this middle-class charmer actually pulls off winning her heart despite their initial hesitation. But here's where it gets deliciously dramatic—Yash, Raja's wealthy best friend, catches a glimpse of Rani in the rain and becomes instantly smitten himself. The tension builds brilliantly when Raja drags Rani to a cliff to confess his love, dramatically threatening to walk backward off the edge to prove his devotion, and when she stops him at the last second, they fall completely into each other's arms.
What happens next absolutely devastates everything—Yash witnesses their kiss and jealousy completely consumes him! He lures Raja back to that same cliff under the pretense of introducing him to his new love, then cruelly lets go of Raja's hand mid-confession, sending him plummeting to his death. Rani witnesses this horrific betrayal and makes a shocking choice: she declares they'll be together again in another life, then jumps off the cliff herself, leaving Yash shattered and alone with his guilt.
Years later, fate plays the most incredible trick on Yash when he encounters Reshma, a folk dancer who's the spitting image of Rani, and then discovers Raju, who looks exactly like Raja! Reshma's past-life memories start flooding back through dreams and encounters with Raju, revealing Yash's murderous deception, and she finally sees through his schemes. The moment she pieces together the truth about his role in their deaths, she abandons Yash completely and runs straight to Raju, proving that true love absolutely transcends lifetimes.
