Review
There's something wonderfully messy about *Deewana Mastana* that refuses to let you look away, even when the plot spirals into territory that defies all logic. Shah Rukh Khan and Govinda play off each other with such infectious energy—Khan's reinvention as the slick NRI conman has genuine charm, while Govinda's physical comedy as the "mentally troubled driver" mines laughs from situations that probably shouldn't be funny but absolutely are. The film knows exactly what it is: a carnival of romantic chaos where a railway heist, psychiatric sessions, and a love triangle converge into something that's neither believable nor entirely coherent, yet somehow compulsively watchable. Juhi Chawla brings warmth to Neha, grounding the madness with her refusal to be just a prize to be won, and the supporting cast leans into the absurdity with genuine commitment.
What works here is the emotional authenticity buried beneath the ridiculousness—there's real vulnerability in Raja's transformation, a genuine ache in watching two broken men try to become something better for love. Director Ajay Devgn (in a rare non-acting role) maintains breakneck pacing that keeps you from questioning the implausibilities too hard, though the film does occasionally buckle under its own weight. The twist ending, while undeniably Bollywood in its optimism, lands with unexpected sweetness; there's something about watching a criminal and a neurotic rich kid become brothers-in-arms that speaks to how this cinema val
Storyline
Raja's hustling railway tickets on the black market when opportunity knocks—he teams up with his mate Ghafoor and a dodgy cop to heist Rs 2.5 million from the railway treasury! They leg it to Mumbai with the cash, and that's when Raja spots Neha at the airport and immediately loses his mind—love at first sight, properly done! He reinvents himself as Raj Kumar, an NRI fresh off the boat from America, with Ghafoor playing the role of his mentally troubled driver, all to get close to this gorgeous psychiatrist.
But here's where it gets delicious: Bunnu, a wealthy businessman's son riddled with phobias, also gets under Neha's skin during his therapy sessions, and suddenly there's a proper love triangle brewing! Both lads resort to impersonating cops to chase her down to Ooty, where things spiral into absolute chaos—Gafoor tries to murder Bunnu, who then hires a contract killer to take out Raja, and the whole thing becomes this ridiculous game of cat and mouse! The tension's electric because nobody knows what's coming next, and these two lovesick fools are completely out of their depth.
Then comes the killer twist: Neha summons both Raja and Bunnu to court with marriage on the brain, and they show up expecting to marry her only to discover she's actually walking down the aisle with someone completely different—Prem! It's hilarious, heartwarming, and perfectly Bollywood—the crook and the rich kid end up as witnesses to her wedding with the actual hero, leaving everyone exactly where they deserve to be!
