3/10Critic Score

"Deadline: Sirf 24 Ghante" attempts to tap into the primal terror of parental vulnerability, a premise that has yielded visceral thrillers elsewhere in Hindi cinema—yet this film squanders its high-stakes setup with leaden pacing and unconvincing character decisions. The kidnapping scenario, which should crackle with urgency, instead unfolds with the momentum of a bureaucratic process. The antagonists feel like sketch-comedy villains rather than genuine threats; Krish, Roohi, and Kabir lack the psychological complexity or menace needed to make us believe in the jeopardy facing young Anishka. The performances, particularly the lead couple's desperation, come across as performative rather than authentically harrowed—we're watching actors *play* panic rather than experiencing it through them. Comparatively, films like "D-Day" or even the broader kidnapping drama "Kahaani" understood how to layer tension with credible antagonists and morally conflicted choices; this film offers neither.

Where the film truly falters is in its narrative structure. The 24-hour countdown device, which should serve as a relentless ticking clock, instead becomes an excuse for repetitive scenes of phone calls and money-gathering montages. The "shocking turn" in the climax feels contrived and unearned—a plot twist that betrays the emotional investment the audience might have mustered rather than deepening it. Director's previous work hovers around modest quality, and this outing does nothing to elevate

Storyline

So there's this successful heart surgeon named Viren who's living the dream with his wife Sanjana and their adorable seven-year-old daughter Anishka in Mumbai. Life's pretty perfect at the moment—Viren's just been recognized with a major medical award and he's heading to Delhi to collect it. He promises his little girl they'll throw her a proper birthday celebration when he gets back, but then everything goes completely sideways.

While Viren is away, a creepy guy named Krish shows up at their house and kidnaps Anishka right in front of Sanjana. It turns out there are three people working together in this scheme—Krish is controlling things from the house, his partner Roohi has locked Viren in his hotel room in Delhi, and a third accomplice named Kabir is holding Anishka somewhere remote. They demand three crores rupees and give the parents just 24 hours to pull together the money or their daughter is gone forever.

Desperate parents do desperate things, and Viren and Sanjana decide their only option is to somehow raise the ransom money no matter what. Viren basically sells everything—his dream hospital project, their house, anything of value—and manages to scrape together the three crores within the timeframe. But when it comes time for the exchange, things take a shocking turn that leaves the parents in complete turmoil about whether they'll ever see their daughter alive again.
