5/10Critic Score

*Blood Money* arrives with an intriguing premise—the collision of ambition, infidelity, and criminality—but stumbles in its execution, though not without moments worth acknowledging. The film attempts to weave together a domestic tragedy with a crime thriller, and while the central concept of a man unknowingly entangled in illegal operations has genuine dramatic potential, the screenplay struggles to balance these competing threads convincingly. The performances carry some weight; there's a certain rawness to Kunal's desperation once his world unravels, and the marital tension in the second act feels lived-in rather than staged. Director manages to extract authentic discomfort from the infidelity sequence, even if the setup—seduction as a control mechanism—borders on the contrived. What undermines the film is its inability to decide whether it's a character study or a crime saga; it shifts uneasily between both, never fully committing to either.

The real weakness lies in narrative coherence and the handling of its moral complexities. Kunal's arc from ambitious dreamer to cornered pawn has promise, but the film glosses over the mechanics of how he becomes complicit, making his culpability murky rather than dramatically tense. Aarzoo's heartbreak registers emotionally, yet her character becomes largely reactive—a victim of circumstance rather than a fully realized woman. The antagonists, particularly Dharmesh and his brother, lack the dimensionality needed to make their scheme

Storyline

So there's this guy named Kunal who's super ambitious and gets this amazing job opportunity in Cape Town through his best friend Sean. He moves there with his wife Aarzoo, and at first everything's great, but then Kunal becomes totally obsessed with work. He's grinding so hard that it starts causing serious tension in his marriage, and Aarzoo gets really frustrated with him. Meanwhile, Kunal impresses his boss Dharmesh so much that he becomes the guy's right-hand man, which obviously makes Dharmesh's jealous younger brother pretty upset.

Things take a wild turn when Kunal discovers that the diamond export company he's been working for is actually running an illegal operation. His boss Dharmesh is basically a gangster, and Kunal had no clue he was caught up in all this shady business. To mess with him and keep him under control, Dharmesh sends this seductive coworker named Rosa to seduce Kunal and drive a wedge between him and his wife. It actually works—Rosa gets him drunk at a party and they end up sleeping together, which is a total disaster.

When Kunal comes home that night, he accidentally wakes up Aarzoo and they have this huge blowout fight. He eventually confesses to her what happened with Rosa, telling her that Rosa took advantage of him while he was drunk. Aarzoo is absolutely crushed and heartbroken by the betrayal. She decides she can't stay with him anymore, so she returns a diamond pendant he'd given her and moves in with Sean. Now Kunal's basically alone, dealing with a crumbling marriage and way deeper trouble than he realized.
