Angrakshak works hardest when it leans into the raw, bloody-minded revenge narrative, and that's exactly where it stumbles—by refusing to commit fully to its own darkness. The film has the bones of something genuinely gripping: a bodyguard-turned-avenger excavating layers of political conspiracy while nursing a shattered heart. The chemistry between the leads crackles in the early stretches, and there are moments where the film feels genuinely tense, particularly when Ajay's obsession strips away his humanity. But director Nitin Medwal gets tangled in melodrama when he should be leaning into ruthlessness. The love story, which should anchor everything, instead becomes a distraction—all longing glances and flashbacks that dilute the investigative thriller's momentum. The political conspiracy angle, too, needed sharper teeth; it plays more like a backdrop than the engine driving the narrative forward.

What saves Angrakshak from being a complete washout is the sheer conviction in its lead performance. There's a grim determination here that carries you through the sloppy plotting and the songs that have no business existing in this story. The action sequences have genuine brutality to them, and when the film stops trying to be a love story and embraces being a revenge thriller, it finds its footing.
