Gulshan Nanda

Gulshan Nanda was a powerhouse storyteller who basically defined Hindi cinema throughout the 1960s and 70s. Born in Rawalpindi in 1919, he transitioned from being a successful novelist to becoming one of Bollywood's most sought-after screenwriters, churning out hit after hit during the industry's golden era. His collaborations with superstar Rajesh Khanna became the stuff of legend — films like Daag, Mehbooba, and Nazrana weren't just box office winners, they were cultural moments. With six Filmfare nominations for Best Story, Nanda proved he had the magic touch, adapting his own novels into blockbusters that audiences couldn't get enough of. What made Gulshan Nanda special was his incredible range — he could write a sweeping romance one minute and pivot to gritty social drama or action-packed thrillers the next, always keeping audiences hooked.
