Devendra Goel

Devendra Goel was a prolific Bollywood director and producer who shaped Hindi cinema during its golden age, directing his debut film Aankhen and going on to helm hits like the beloved Ek Saal in 1957, which starred the legendary Madhubala. Active from 1950 to 1978, Goel carved out a steady career in the industry, earning recognition with the Silver Jubilee Award for his film Dus Lakh. Based in Meerut before making his mark in Bombay's film world, he became known for his ability to craft engaging narratives that resonated with audiences of that era. What set Devendra Goel apart was his versatility across languages and genres—while he built his reputation with Hindi films, he also ventured into Marathi cinema, directing Dost Asava Tar Asa alongside respected actors like Ramesh Deo and Deven Varma.
