Through the 1980s and 1990s, he built a strong reputation in Kannada cinema with a string of acclaimed films. His foray into Hindi cinema came in 1991 with Indrajeet, followed by ventures into other Hindi projects like Udhaar Ki Zindagi and Khooni Jung, cementing his status as a filmmaker comfortable working across industries. Raju's directorial style was marked by his ability to craft engaging narratives across different genres and languages, showcasing a unique sensibility that enriched Bollywood during a crucial period.
