Govardhan Kumar Asrani is a legendary figure in Indian cinema who carved out an impressive five-decade career spanning over 350 Hindi and Gujarati films. Born in Jaipur and trained at FTII Pune, Asrani became a household name through his incredible versatility—whether stealing scenes as the quirky jailor in the cult classic Sholay, playing the loyal best friend to Rajesh Khanna in 25 films, or commanding the screen in lead roles like Chala Murari Hero Banne. His ability to slip seamlessly between comedy, character work, and supporting roles made him an invaluable asset to filmmakers, and he earned a Filmfare Award for Best Comedian along with numerous other accolades throughout his illustrious career.
