Sarita Joshi

Sarita Joshi

Born: 17 October 1941

Sarita Joshi is one of those rare actors who's basically a living legend in Indian entertainment. Starting her career in the golden era of Gujarati and Marathi theatre, she became a powerhouse performer alongside her husband Pravin Joshi during the 1970s. But it was her portrayal of the beloved matriarch Godavari Thakkar in Star Plus's *Baa Bahoo Aur Baby* (2005–2010) that made her a household name across the country. The accolades have poured in throughout her career—she snagged the prestigious Sangeet Natak Akademi Award way back in 1988, and in 2020, the government honored her with the Padma Shri, India's fourth-highest civilian award, recognizing her massive contributions to Indian arts. What makes Sarita Joshi stand out is her incredible range and the authenticity she brings to every role, whether she's playing a fierce businesswoman or a caring grandmother figure. She's never been the type to rest on her laurels, constantly taking on interesting characters that showcase different shades of her talent. Recently, she's been everywhere—from *Hamari Bahu Silk* on Zee TV to the *Anupamaa* prequel series *Anupama: Namaste America*, and currently starring as Radha Tai in Sony Sab's *Pushpa Impossible*. Her presence instantly elevates any project, and audiences have come to expect nothing less than brilliant performances from her. She's genuinely shaped how we see older female characters on screen, making them complex, relevant, and absolutely unforgettable.
