Kalpana Mohan
Kalpana Mohan was a talented Hindi cinema actress who graced the silver screen during the swinging 1960s, delivering memorable performances alongside some of Bollywood's biggest names. Born Archana Mohan in Srinagar in 1946, she burst onto the scene with Professor in 1962, starring opposite the legendary Shammi Kapoor, and went on to work with icons like Shashi Kapoor, Dev Anand, and Feroz Khan in films such as Pyar Kiye Jaa, Teen Devian, and Tasveer. Though her active years in cinema were relatively brief, spanning from 1962 to 1967, she carved out a respectable niche for herself during an era of classic Bollywood cinema. Beyond her on-screen presence, Kalpana was a classically trained Kathak dancer, having studied under the renowned Pandit Shambhu Maharaj, which added grace and elegance to her performances. The daughter of revolutionary Avani Mohan, she brought both artistic credibility and cultural depth to the roles she undertook, contributing to the artistic fabric of 1960s Hindi cinema during a transformative period. After stepping away from films, Kalpana settled in Pune with her family, where she spent her later years. She passed away in 2012, leaving behind a legacy of sophisticated performances that remain a cherished part of Bollywood's golden age.
